I was communing with a beautiful group of women after a Kundalini class we enjoyed together yesterday, and I discovered that my daily devotion to loving myself isn't something everyone employs in their lives. This discovery made me want to share why cultivating self-love and actively showering yourself with love every day is paramount.
In the tapestry of my life, the threads of self-love weave a transformative story of resilience. As a light worker who emerged from the shadows of battling the demons of addictions, disorders, and self-harm, I share my journey to illuminate the profound importance of cultivating a deep, unwavering love for oneself.
Similar to countless others, the roots of my story delve into the darkness of familial toxicity, where seeds of self-doubt and worthlessness took hold. In the crucible of this adversity, I discovered the transformative power of Kundalini Yoga, which became my guiding light, leading me to the path of self-discovery and spiritual healing. The dance with self-love is multifaceted, requiring the courage to confront the shadows within. I unraveled the layers of my own insecurities and fears, peeling back the veils that obscured the radiant core of my being. Through introspection and spiritual practices, I embraced the authenticity that had long been overshadowed. In the depths of despair, I found strength in surrender; surrender to the divine love that resides within and around us. This surrender became the catalyst for profound healing, resurrecting a sense of purpose and resilience. I began to view my past as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the urgency to love oneself fiercely.
Navigating my labyrinth of pain, I unearthed the sacred truth that self-love is not a destination but a continuous journey. Self-love is a daily conscious decision to accept and embrace oneself fully, ugliness, wounds, scars, and all, and to acknowledge the inherent beauty and divinity within. Through the lens of love, I learned to transmute the wounds inflicted by others and myself into stepping stones of personal growth.
In my opinion, the spiritual journey is all love but not all light. There are a bevy of heavy truths to lay bare and face. The process is arduous. We've all heard the saying, "You have to feel to heal," and that is the truth. There is no other way through the Dark Night of the Soul than to deconstruct belief systems that led to self-sabotage, sifting through the rubble to find true understanding. Understanding the mess isn't enough; there also has to be acceptance. Befriend past versions of the Self that did the best they could with the knowledge they had at the time. Sit with them and actively forgive them. Love them through the pain they have accumulated in their unknowingness and rebuild a new belief system that meets current needs in a way that allows for the kind of life truly desired. Any person can build anew at any time by absolving themselves of beliefs and actions that aren't contributing to their greatest good and replacing those beliefs and actions with ones that compose a preferred reality.
In the realm of self-love, forgiveness becomes a potent elixir. I forgive regularly, not to condone the wrongs done unto me or by me, but to liberate myself from the chains of resentment. Once you learn how to forgive and love yourself, doing the same for others becomes easy. This improves relationships with others, because you're operating authentically, and the needs of you and everyone around you are more easily met.
As a light worker, I now regularly witness the alchemy that occurs when one emancipates themselves from the burdens of the past, allowing the heart to blossom into a garden of compassion. My very purpose in this life is letting my inner light shine bright to help others find their path, and I'm so grateful to be of service in a time where so many are doing just that.
To those who tread the arduous path of self-love, I extend a beacon of hope. You can and will love yourself, and it will be the most fulfilling love to be experienced. Embrace your scars as badges of resilience, for they are testaments to your journey. Let your heart's love be your compass, guiding you through the tumultuous seas of self-discovery. In the sanctuary of self-love, you'll find the elixir that heals wounds, ignites the spirit, and transforms the narrative of pain into a saga of triumph.
May this testament resonate with those seeking the transformative power of self-love—a journey that transcends the boundaries of time and space, weaving a tapestry of healing, strength, and the sacred embrace of one's own soul. You are worthy. If you need guidance and support, I'm here for you. I love you. Sat Nam.
